The artist has given the complete sum of his £25,000 honor cash to the MVT, which operates to save the Britain's independent music venues.

The star was presented with the prize on mid-October as his new release his work was named the top album of the past year.

Fender has chosen to donate the funds to the Music Venues Trust, in acknowledgment of the crucial part small stages fulfilled in his beginning days.

"As an artist wouldn't be doing what I am doing today if it hadn't been for all the gigs I performed around the North East, and beyond, when I was just getting going," stated the artist. "These locations are iconic, but they are struggling."

From early 2023 onward, at least 150 of these venues have ceased operations – approximately one-sixth of the entire UK sector.

Recently, top acts such as Pulp, the group Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all backed the trust in its attempts to help venues survive, by including a small levy to their admission fees, which goes to help smaller concert halls.

Sam Fender also joined in, raising over £100k on his recent tour to help thirty-eight small stages across Britain.

These funds assisted locations that were facing possible closure due to difficulties caused by flooding, fire incidents and bereavements, as well as regulatory hurdles, conflicts and neighbor objections.

Some locations obtained monetary aid in improving facilities and gear that directly benefitted artists and fans.

"The idea that revenue from performances in big venues backs the smaller venues, where it begins for musicians like me, is just common sense," the star has commented.

He is far from the only musician to give his honor winnings to good deeds.

When they won the prize in 1996 for their release their work, frontman the singer declared that the group would contribute their prize money to the non-profit War Child.

That year, artist Ms Dynamite divided her award across several charities, such as the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell organization.

"I also donated a grand to the center, to their classes, because I did gymnastics when I was growing up and they needed better apparatus," she shared with outlets.

In recent years, they contributed their winnings to the local youth club that developed their band, alongside other independent music bodies.

And winners that year the group contributed their winnings to a multiple sclerosis charity after a acquaintance was identified with the disease.

"Receiving the award was sufficient," said vocalist the singer. "The money was the bonus but we didn't require the extra, because we had the cake. So our victory affected somebody else's life."

In the past week, the trust revealed it had protected two small stages in that region, by bringing them into local control.

One venue in that area and The Croft in the city were bought under the Own Our Venues initiative, which is backed by the arts council and enthusiasts who purchase "ownership units" in the properties.
